Does every track have a lane sponsored by miller lite. I would want RT, 60ft, 1/8 ET and MPH, 1/4 ET and MPH. Unless i know there is a problem then i would want it all to find out where the car is going crappy. But on a regular run thats all i need.

Thanks guys.

It'llrun,

Thinking about opening a track in Ft. Lauderdale. This info is to get a quote for a porta-tree set-up with scoreboard and slip machine.

Open one and I'll come race on it, at least once! I'm pretty close to Moroso, so...

I thought someone tried to open one about 2 years ago, just west of Lauderdale but, was denied due to so many seniors complaining of noise polution! Wouldn't wanna hurt those 90 year old ears, most of which can't hear the phone ring, much less a race car from more than 500 feet away!

Oddly, Hialeah opened that really noisy oval track but, the SAME location was stopped from having a 1/4 mile track (from what I heard) within it. Why? NOISE! People in FL are WEIRD, eh? If I had the land, I'd open another track near WPB just to allow racing 5 nights a week. That would not only make money but, it would allow for safer roads. You know as well as anyone how much street racing occurs (especially Pompano to Miami) and how many people are killed in crashes, especially the elderly who CAN'T HEAR the cars coming and therefore, don't get outta the way. I don't like street racing but, I can't see why there's always such a stink about building more drag strips. It's not rocket science to me, that's for sure. It's like.... Duhhhhh!

It'llrun,

My attorney is looking into using an old airfield out here. It's right off US27, no homes to complain. It's a perfectly flat 3,000 ft. long, 50 ft. wide strip.
If it works out that I can use it 3 times a week I think I may try it. I'm getting quotes for the tree and everything else needed. 100 cars a night can be easily figured, not to mention about 100 spectators. Couple thousand a night isn't bad. My cousin wants to put the money up for it so why not. If it goes well for 1 year, thats over 300,000 gross. He would open a real track in that case. Buy some property and do it up good.
Just lookin into right now.

You'll hear about it if it happens.

Later!

Should have my car next week, finally.

Off 27? SHEESH! It'll take me an hour to get there. BUT, I'll bet many racers from the west and northwest area would show up! Clewiston, Moore Haven, Immokalee (probably, even though they have a short track), Belle Glade & South Bay, Pahokee, and then there's all those MIAMI FREAKS who could easly get there.... Yep, "Build it, and they will come." Hope it works out for ya. If nothing else in MY favor, it would ease the traffic at Moroso!

Oh, and I'm glad you're about to get your car back and I think that "rear view for 03 Cobras" is hilarious!

always good to have another track in Florida open! Ever since they closed Miami-Hollywood due to old farts and the rumors surrounding Orlando Speedworld being closed up after 2003, I'm glad to see someone still wants to try their hand at it!

Quickin,
in the 330 and 1000, usually not much can be derived in time runs, but they are great for determining ets when you are bracket racing! Plus in some cases the 330 can help you figure out what an et would be without wind, tire spin for those banging gears, etc.

If you are seriously considering opening a track, I'd put all those listed above in it. Hell I know a track in Georgia (Douglas Raceway) that is 1/8 mile only but gives you your mph at the 330 mark! I thought it was cool to know that since I've never seen it before.
Remember, more information is never a bad thing!

Personally, the 1000 ft timers don't mean much to me, but I do use the 330 ft times. Some racers (me included) shift from 1/2 right at the 60 ft lights. This can lead to a somewhat misleading inconsistency in the 60 ft times, which can sometimes be read as poor traction. The 330 lights can see through that.

Good luck to ya.

Thats at least 600 paying customers. At an average of $12.50 thats $7,500 a week, $390,000 a year. Keep the city of Lauderdale from being a racetrack and make some good cash while I'm at it.

I plan on going to Moroso in about a month to run my car, I'll let ya now.

good luck at Moroso, hope it hooks!
If I'm ever there again (parents live about 3 minutes away from the track) I'll be sure to NOT line up with you!

Let me know when you're going... Email me. If I'm around, I'd like to meet you out there and if my car is ready too, maybe even give you a run... Hopefully I'll get out before the track closes.

I've had the same idea about opening a track... Poblem is, the capitol needed just to get started. Land is expensive down here and unless you can get a spot like you're looking at (pre-paved) it's that muh more. You'll prolly have to repair the "road" anyway.

My first few runs are probably gonna be crappy anyway, it'll be the best time to race me.
