Default Expected better runs - advice wanted

Three weeks ago, on bald F1's, I cut what I thought to be pretty fair times. Tonight I went back with new KDW's, TB bumpstop ground to 4.6V, and TB coolant bypass. I really expected at touch the 12's, but couldn't get traction.

It was a cold night and they finally shut us down when it hit 37 degrees. Could it have made that much difference to the street tires?

Keep in mind that Steve Sanders was there with his lightly modded LS1 and Nittos and cut 2 12.71's and a 12.68 in an A4 w/2300 stall. (Great meeting you, Colonel!)

Here is the best slip from tonight. (December 6, 38 degrees, humidity 75%). Feedback is welcomed

60' - 2.231
330' - 5.863
1/8 - 8.776 @ 85.01
1/4 - 13.433 @ 105.72

By comparison, here is previous best (November 15th, 50 degrees, humidity 80%)

60' - 2.09
330' - 5.665
1/8 - 8.573 @ 85.01
1/4 - 13.234 @ 105.26

I tried several launch techniques, starting with just wiping off the tires and launching hard from a 1500 rpm footbrake (went completely up in smoke twice), to a full burnout and an 1100 rpm footbrake with an easy throttle roll on (the best run).

Tire pressure = 30 lbs.

OK guys, help me get my self respect back.

Its all in the 60ft. As you can see your mph is basically identical which shows you the power was there but the traction wasn't. A new tire(street tire) usually wont hook as good as a decently worn tire.

If they're not drag radials (or drag tires), leave them at the factory recommended air pressure. This allows more rubber (footprint) contact on the ground. I'm not sure what KDW's are but, they don't seem to be drag tires.

Idonno about everyone else but, TB bypasses aren't doing you any favors in those temps as far as I can tell.

Just practice launching though. You're whole race depends on the 60' time (as Y2K said).

Just got back from the track...close but no cigar.

55 degrees, 35% humidity, 30.13 baro

60' - 2.062
330' - 5.625
1/8 - 8.518 @ 85.29
1/4 - 13.139 @ 106.50

Let the pressure all the way down to 20 lbs in the KDW's for that pass. I think I got just about all this setup had in it, so until I go for drag radials, etc, I'll be content. Besides, I beat two Cobra's and a Boss 302!!

The KDW tires are the problem. I had these on my car for a week and took them off (no traction). The KD's would have been MUCH better but they are absolute pigs in the rain. Get a set of NITTO 555R tires and that alone should at least get you in the 1.8 range on your 60 foots. The 555R's are at least decent in the rain. The best DOT approved tire to use would be some ET streets altough because of their soft sidewall design I would not reccomend daily use.
