How about a 9 second NA 382cid ARE motor?!?!?!?!?!
I finally cracked the 9 sec barrier with my 382cid all-bore ARE motor tonight!!! After struggling with 10.0 passes for the past few weeks, all the frustration has finally paid off.
Tonight was "street legal" night at Gainesville, so I had to drive the car into the track (no trailer), and run through the mufflers all night.
After a few hit and miss footbrake passes, the track seemed to be coming around. I made another footbrake pass and ran the car all the way out and went 10.01 @ 132.9mph (1.33 60'). I figured if I could get the car to stick on a transbrake launch, I'd have my 9 second pass. Well, it did. The car wheelied pretty bad, but didn't get out of shape to the point that I had to abort so I ran it all the way out. I was presented with my first ever 9 second timeslip.

OK, it was barely a 9 sec pass, but it was good enough for me. I think the car could've gone a little bit quicker tonight (even with the mufflers on it), considering the overboard wheelstand on that pass (the 60' time was with the back tires), but I decided to load up and call it a good year. Next weekend I'll probably pull the motor and start to tear it down so I can see how everything looks, although I don't expect to find any problems. This lil' ARE motor hasn't skipped a beat since it's been in the car. I haven't decided whether or not I'm going to make any changes to the engine for next year or not. The car does seem to want/need a little less gear, so I'll be swapping out the trusty 28x10.5 ET drags for a set of 29.5x10.5's on the rear, and 28x7.50 ET fronts on the front. The tire change works out the same as me changing out the gear for a 4.11 (currently a 4.33).
I did get a pretty good video of the pass as well, and will try to get it converted and posted sometime tomorrow.

Congrats George. Great to see someone with less than 400ci tearing it up at the strip N/A. That's gotta be one hell of a ride.

Congrats George, a 9 is a 9!
These LS1s continue to amaze me, even after owning one for over 4 years. I can only imagine how crazy things will be a year from now
346ci 9s NA?
422ci 8s NA?
Pretty damn awesome.

I was hoping you would get that 9 sec slip before you tore the motor back down.
Frame that slip and put it on the wall somewhere.
