Default Is the stock tach off?

I installed a shift light yesterday, I set it to 6400 and the light comes on when the tach shows 6k...is this normal on ls1's?
I've had a tune, so I don't know if that matters or not.
thanks
-Steve

The stock tach is off and gets worse the more power that you have.

it is extremely slow and more power = quicker reving and it cant keep up just go by the light i think mine is barely at 6k if that when i shift at 6.5-6.6k
also if its regular tpye light(incadescent like autometer) it will be a lil late to just becasue they dont light up fast enough, if its led then its right on . the tach will get closer to accurate when in higher gears like 4th , 5th 6th,
lower gears it just doesnt keep up

I like the idea of just adding a shift light but keeping the stock gauge for a stealth appearance. What type of shift light set up did you use and how did you wire it?

Ok, I have an LED type and I will use that to shift from now on, I had no clue before.

I got mine at Raptorperformance.com and I installed mine like this:

Mine has a black housing and yellow LED's, and I love it. Awesome product.
