Default 2002 Firehawk Vs. 2000 Corvette

Just like the title says. I've got a pretty stock 2002 Firehawk M6. Only mods are Nitto 555R's on the back and ICAGS mod.

The Corvette is a 2000 LS1 Corvette with an automatic transmission. The owner of the Corvette and I were wondering who'd win in a race. He's not actually going to race me though. (I tried).

So who do you think would win. I would imagine it would be fairly close assuming I can drive.

If he's got the stock stall and tires then I would bet on you in the quarter. If he's wondering then why wouldn't he race you? Tell him to quit being a *****. If you have a corvette you might as well have some fun with it. If he doesn't want to run on the street at least talk the guy into going to the track with it.

A while back I raced a 2000 C5 from a roll (twice) and I won both times in an almost stock WS6. So, my money would be on the Firebird. Also, we both have automatic trannys and we ran from something like 45 to 80 or 85. Both times I was a good car ahead. But, I think it would have been different after 100 mph.

Yeah, I'd say you. I agree with Actionjack after 100mph, but you probably already know that, playa.

Well I know that a Corvette has a higher top speed than an F-body does. But in a quarter mile run it won't get to that.

Is this assuming a 2.73 or a 3.15? Or does it matter?

Not sure. Being an auto I would assume 2.73 vs. my 3.42 gears. Not sure on the Corvettes options. I do know it's an LS1 and not a Z06. Factory exhaust standard tires I see on all non-Z06 cars. Definatley an automatic.

What's the point in all this discussion if it's all moot?
I wouldn't even give him the pleasure of discussing the possibilities without a pending race.

It doesn't matter 'cause there's NO race.

You know that saying in 4-wheeling, where if you've never been stuck, you ain't been anywhere worth mentioning? It comes to mind when I read about that cat with the vette.

Well I've been trying to talk him into it. I've not really had anything mess with me since I got that car. Except for a new Turbo Beetle. (Really)

Two fourth gen Camaros were revving at me and what not on the street a couple days ago. They looked pretty sweet but we didn't get to race or anything. I'm pretty stock and I am not sure what has been done to them. I probably would have lost in an actual race.

So I've been calling him a pansy all day trying to get him to do it. But he says he's not into "racing". So I doubt anything would come of it.

He thinks he'd probably win. I wasn't so sure so I was asking because I wanted to know what to expect against a car like that.

I don't get why everyone is worried about the top end? They might have a faster top speed, but it takes them some time to get to it.

Check out the link below to read my run in with a C5...
https://ls1tech.com/forums/street-racing-kill-stories/186198-finally-got-race-c5.html

We raced from about 40-120 with me starting to pull by 110. This was with just a lid - with an 02 Firehawk, you'll have a lid and the half-decent catback to start with - not to mention the LS6 intake. I say you'll take him down low (if you can launch) and up top as well.

Throw some cash in his face and see what he does

One thing that I notice to be a problem that some folks don't realize is, SETUP, SETUP, SETUP. Now if you run a guy and win, well you won. That doesn't mean that you have a better car. He may have missed a gear. Hell in your case he may have had 2.73 gears and say a z06 cam. Now he has to pull to 6500, 6600 with really long gears.
In fact, I don't mind telling the story I guess... I ran a friend in a stock 99 hard top vette. Well the first night we went twice from a 60 roll. I have a headers, 02 Z06 cam. I pulled a car quick but then his *** stuck on me like glue. I was so puzzled. I have to give it to him though. Thinking it was a fluck, we ran another day and he walked off on me. I was really pissed, but I smiled and told him that he has a damn quick car. Well I know that 300 pounds makes a lot of difference. If you don't believe me, ran someone and then add 300 and see what happens. So I thought the weight was the problem between the cars. You know power to weight ratio.

Bottom line was, the weight made some difference. Not in this case because I dynoed on the same day 376/370 and he dynoed 325/332. I then was on the hunt. I pulled my plugs to see if anything changed with the cam. I used to be VERY lean and mean. Well when the first plug came out, I knew then what the problem was. I was way to rich.

I changed the pulls and installed a MAF tranlator and now the problem is solved. I can under shift a little and still pull off.

So see, you can only take a win for a win. Doesn't mean that you had the car, but you did have the moment.

My 2 pennies!!!
:USA: go bush!!!
