Default Who has the quietest 9 second exhaust?

I'm going to switch over to some 1 7/8" headers soon and I'm looking for a quiet free-flowing exhaust system. Any ideas?

I'm thinking 3" ypipe -> flowmaster 3.5" y -> 3.5 over axle pipe -> some 3.5" muffler

Don't you need to have a 9-second car first?

Sorry dude, couldn't resist

Call up Lingenfelter and order up one of those 40 some odd thousand dollar 8 second exhaust systems they have. I swear to you that vette of thiers that just ran 8 seconds, sounds tame when compared to most heads and cam cars. Truely an awesome set up. Oh , BTW the manifolds have a funny looking round "thingy" hanging off of either side .

Mine's far from "quiet," but it can be run on the street... I do get some funny looks, though.

I have 2 Flowmaster 1-chamber mufflers just off the end of the collectors, with dumps on the ends of the mufflers. They were on the car when I made my 9 second pass...

When will your car be done JP? Remember my car has the magic HP fairy so it might not be an apples-apples comparison.

Is this an attempt to make your car more quiet so we can hear your mouth more? If so, then no need, that mouth is loud enough!

Run a pair of 3" bullets in the ypipe and then get the mufflex 4" catback. Replace their muffler with the biggest 4" ultraflo muffler that will fit in the back and have a single 4" tailpipe.

Id bet it would be pretty quiet still have good flow. The area of single 4" pipe is the equivelant to a pair of 2.8" diameter pipes.

I would wait and see how my car responds to the 3.5" collectors. I have the 1 7/8 stepped headers, 3 1/2 y-pipe and a flowmaster dual 3.5" > 4". With the Borla cat-back completely closed it is still pretty quiet. You are more than welcome to listen to it...just have one of the guys over at MMS fire it up for you.

Magnaflow has one of the quietest mufflers. I have a magnaflow catback on my bolt on car, but my ride only runs 12's. At WOT its pretty loud though. But I would think magnaflow+ some bullets would be fairly quiet on your 9 second car. If you want 2 mufflers, IMO 2 magnaflow mufflers would make your car VERY stealthy. They also flow really well.

It's still only a 10 second ride, but I'm working on that. When I run 9s I want to do it in style (and quietly!)

JP I'll go check your setup out. Do you have a 4" to 3" reducer or something? Your borla is 3" right?

Yeah...it has a serious neck down to the 3" Borla. I figure that when it matters (track) I'll just open up the cutouts. I also have one of those electronic cutouts for the Borla...so I can adjust the volume as needed. If I get really serious down the road I can either bolt up a 4" Mufflex, or drop the entire exhaust and run extensions off the headers. I'll soon have LS6 heads, and the same cam you do Terry, so it should be a good benchmark for volume.
