Default 9 inch assembly & install

I'm getting ready to assemble & install a 9 inch in my car within the next week. Any special tips on doing this? The 3rd member is already together...just gotta get the backing plates off my 10-bolt, and press the bearings on the axles...

Do I install the 3rd member and then slide the axles in? Also how much fluid do these hold? and is it OK to use synthetic fuild like royal purple?

Thanks

I heard that you gotta use regular gear oil. and you gotta throw the 3rd member in first or else the axles will be in the way.

third member goes in first, then the axles go in, then add oil, very easy. I use redline oil in mine

I think people that do run synthetics do cuz of personal preferences. I just don't want to run cheap gear lube in an expensive rear end.

just like was said...install the 3rd member then slide the axles in. Make sure to tighten the backing plate bolts adequately...maybe use a lockwasher since they can back out on you if you're not careful

My moser 9" takes ~1 gal of gear oil to be filled

I have a full spool, guess I'll just use regular oil. Thanks for the replies
