Default What do you think of this Cam w/a Stoker Motor?

ok, i'm definintely getting a stoker short block for my car, i'm just not sure from where yet (cracked piston or block - dealer diagnosis) so i started thinking dangerously - "well, as long as i have the block out..." i decided to look into getting a cam put in w/it.

the cam that i like the best so far is a 224 - .581/.581 112 OR 114 (can't decide which yet) - my heads will remain stock for the time being as i CAN'T drop more $$$ to get them done too. What do you guys think about this cam w/ either a 383 or 395?

It would be very streetable with a stroker, but you could go to a 230 if you want more power, get close to .600 lift.If you really want crazy go 236 on 113 or 114 LDAor 112????

Check out the R1 cam at MTI. Good for strokers.

i had a 232 236 in my 395, lets just say it lasted as long as a dyno tune.
my 242 242 595 595 112 lunati is perfectly streetable with a 395 stroker

That big stroke is going to want more overlap to be optimum. Also, a bigger cam can help produce more air from stock heads. I'd say something in the .60x lift range on a 246/258 ish size with a 108lsa. You are crutching your self with stock heads but the increased overlap will help produce large flow from them. This cam shouldn't have too bad of an idle either in a 4 inch stroke motor.

It would do alright but you need more cam to make the most power that this combination is capable of. There is a big difference between a 346 and 408, both in bore and stroke.

Ok, i'm leaning towards a aluminum 383 w/eagle internals. the heads will only be stock for a couple months so i can pay off some of the block before i get to the heads. The car is a daily driver, so i am looking for the most streetable power i can get w/o sacrificing too much low end or drivablility. Now that i think about it i heard that cam was good w/ stock motor, but i guess things would be different w/ a stoker. So what do you think would be a good streetable cam for a 383?

242/250 .595/.595 109 is streetable.
I wouldnt go less than 240+ on a 112 or 114
224 is way too small.

Erson from Rapidmotorsports
specs as listed with 1.75 rockers
480rwhp/440tq
~stock compression LS1 Rapid heads
Nothing exotic..92 octane
steel driveshaft, stock wheels, and no tricks.
daily driver that sounds pro stock.
Cant imagine what Rapid LS6 heads and 11:1 or more compresion would do????

I think you should buy my 236/232 .602/.575 112lsa great for my 383 for a daily driver/drag car. made damn near 500rwhp with it and is VERY streetable.
