Default What is the most power possible out of a 346 Hyd. cammed engine?

Assume a forged shortblock, LS6 heads, LS6 intake, full boltons, headers, x-pipe, dual exhaust, etc? I would think with ~11-11.5 to 1 compression, and a big (24x-24x .6XX lift cam), 500RWHP would be possible? What is the linit on a 346" NA engine? Just curious.....

Are you planning on going solid roller?

No, hydraulic cams only. Solid roller stuff is too rich for my blood.

Well.... realistically on the type of setup that you're talking about, 500rwhp is a pretty high goal to set.

I think you're probably looking at about 440rwhp as the "limit" of what that type of setup can offer you. Now, if you wanted to go solid roller and rev to say, 8000rpm or higher then yeah I could see you making 500rwhp with the right type of cam.

I don't think 500rwhp is possible with those limitations.

I think a SR + good intake and some rpms could get there but the peak hp would be over 7000rpms.

Well, we've seen ~460ish on a stock bottom end out of LG, through the muffler, with his LS6 head / G5-X2 package. Throw in some dyno tricks and you might get close, but it'll definitely be tough.

Didn't Cartek do in that same ballpark? ~460-470?

I know that Thunder is working on a couple solid roller versions of this motor (forged / LS6 / big cam).

Tell me, why is an extra 40rwhp going to cost
1000-1500 more RPM.

Thats not how it works.

With the right solid roller, slightly more compression 500rwhp can be seen before 7000 rpm
on a 346.

Look at the graphs of the LG 358 motor, 500rwhp is
seen before 6000 rpm on that motor.

I know this is an SB2 motor

Spanky said with a hydraulic cam and 11.5:1 compression, so I am not looking at SR scenarios.

I've seen a CARTEK S2X package at 472RWHP through full exhaust and 4.10 gears so I imagine with a good intake manifold this package could push very close to 500RWHP!
