Default I need to vent

So I finally busted my posi a few weeks back. What I should have done at that point was just spent $300 for a used 3.42 10 bolt and called it a day.
Nope.
Here is what I did. I had some 4.10's used I paid $75 or something for. Then I bought a $150 used 3.23 10 bolt for the posi. I figured I would pay the shops $250 to install the posi because he said at that time he would put any gears in that I wanted. So here I am, $475-$500 in to it. Come to find out the 4.10's don't line up and are actually shot. So I had no choice but to get the 3.42's put back in.
Where am I know? Basically back where I started but $500 poorer and a lot pi$$ed off. Could have been all done with just buying a cheaper used 3.42 10 bolt.

Ouch. I encountered a similar problem with a $1000 used cylinder heads purchase. I feel your pain brother, as I'm sure 70% of the members of this board do. I won't even buy used parts anymore. One bad apple spoils the whole bunch.

That sucks, i had the chance to buy an entire 3.42 rear end for $200, but instead of running the chance of breaking at the track or somewhere far from home, so i just bought a 12 bolt. Now i know it wont break.

I may have to buck up for a spool 12 bolt some time next year. But damn $1,600! Baby has to eat.
