Default LS6 cams (valve events, lsa) and a tad of duration

I have a question relating to valve events and wide lobe seperations of cams.

For example, we have LS6 cams that have an extreme wide lsa. Isn't it 116lsa/'01 and 117.5lsa/02+ models? Are these cams idling good because of the wide lsa or because they have proper valve events? Both?

I thought cams with a large split favoring the exhaust usually idle worse than say a rever split or single patternd. Both ls6 cams have a relatively large split and idle like stock or having no lope. Why have I heard reverse splits to have better idle qualities than regulars?

Perhaps I dont know what I'm talking about, but thought I'd ask anyways...

Thanks,

Kyle

Default

The main reason why the LS6 cams idle so well is because they have little overlap due to the wide LSA and small duration. Overlap is what causes a poor idle. Sure different valve events with the same overlap can change the idle characteristics some. Large split cams have lots of overlap...more exhuast duration, more overlap, if everything else remains the same.
