Default Need help oil pressure at 0........

I went to start my car this afternoon, and when It started it sounded fine but the oil pressure light was at 0 so I freaked and shut it off... I recently replaced the oil pressure sending unit due to me braking the last one off while swapping to an ls6 intake. so i got the new sending unit and put it back on and now once I started the car the needle on the guage shot to 80.... is that normal. help me out please.
thanks
Wesley

I'm confused, did you just replace the sending unit and got 80psi or is it still 0?

And lots of people break the oil press sending unit when removing their intake manifold.

Mine pegged out when my sender was broken...but maybe that depends on how you break it. Seems kind of backwards from your case.

yeah it is kinda wierd, b/c it was at 0 then once I replaced the sensor and put it all back together and started it back up it then pegged, also I noticed that it pegs when I just put it in the start position ?????? and doesnt come down at all. I let it run for around 3 minutes and it stayed pegged so anyone who knows the answer to that will be my savior. so much for taking it to the track tommorrow..

Hope you didnt break that one too

In case you did I have a proven method to keep from breaking them. Take off the brake booster hose and pull the intake forward enough to get to the sender, remove broken one, place new sender on and torq down with the special socket. Then leave the socket on there and put the intake back on. This forces you to avoid breaking the sending unit b/c it wont move with the socket on there (and it wont break either since the pressure is on the base which is metal and not the plastic). Once the intake is back on then pull the socket off and hook the brake booster and etc back up and plug the sending unit back up. Good luck with finding your problem.
