Default RX-8 killed

Ran a dark grey RX-8 today (very sharp car) on the highway, he pulled up along me and I was cruising at 70-75 in 5th gear after passing a car, I just left it in 5th and we went on the 3rd honk. I still pulled him pretty easy. It had exhaust work done, thats all I know.

nice! i'm not very impressed with the rx-8. i think mazda dropped the ball with it, i mean sure it looks good, but i was thinking it should have power along the lines of an rx-7. im a huge rx-7 fan btw, they are some sweet looking cars.

It certianly isn't fast, but I got to drive the stick one and it was just a lot of fun to drive. It was awfully slow, but the shifter was fantastic, as was the enormous tach.

Funny kill btw!

^ Enormous tach. I guess it needs to be big when you've gotta rev to the damn sky to get anywhere!

Nice kill, in 5th gear!

Ravenous T\A: I gave a 3rd gear pull on one It still had the dealer window sticker on it. They came out of nowhere and where next to me on the highway. I bucked the car a bit to see if they would bite. Very sweet looking car by the way but NO ***** whatsoever. They did want some, and when they started moving forward, keep in mind, this was at 50mph I floored it, caught 3rd and had "ship lengths" on them. I slowed down, they caught up and tried to roll pass me at 70 mph (no, no, no) I slammed 3rd gear and flew pass and put her in 4th until I hit about 130mph or so.

Well, I think Mazda never intended them to have the performance of an RX-8. They are just touring cars. They look sweet, have some pep, but are by no means fast. It would be nice if they had a turbocharged option or something like that though.

There's a good chance that it may have been an auto: the auto RX8 is RIDICULOUSLY slow compared to the manual version. Not only that, but the auto versions are rated at 40 h.p. LESS than the manual versions, and I'm not sure what they're rated at torque-wise. But getting an RX8 with an automatic would just really be one of the dumbest things a person could ever do with their money.

Good. That way, you'll see more LS1 swaps.

what else could you expect from a Ford

I think Ford outdid themselves with the '03 Cobra.. other than that and the Lightning... their cars are

The autos have more torque, but still don't expect anything.

Guy down the street here has a procharged LS1 in 2nd gen RX-7.............................

My mom has an auto rx-8 and it's actally a decent family car She runs a hairdressing shop out of our house and the funny thing is that most customers think that it is faster then the T/A

Definately not a fast car, though I heard that there may be a turbocharged mazdaspeed version coming out sometime in the next 2 years, but that's just rumor.

That sounds like a real bright idea.
Turbo charge a rotary engine. I know that they supposedly fixed the problems from the last generation, but once anything on the motor goes, its time for a completly new block... I mean cylinder... or whatever they call it. Too bad an LS1 won't fit in there.
