NHRA/IHRA Rules on Parachutes?
What are the rules for parachutes in the NHRA/IHRA?
For the NHRA, I thought you needed one if your ET was 8.49 or quicker in the 1/4th OR Speed was 150+ mph in the 1/4th. Can anyone verify these numbers? Any changes for 2003? Anyone know the IHRA rules?

in the class rules in the 2003 NHRA book it just says any car with a top track speed over 150mph needs a chute

I only know of the 150mph trap speed rule regarding chutes...
Mir, you got something big up your sleeve? <img border="0" title="" alt="[Cool]" src="gr_images/icons/cool.gif" />

Uh oh, maybe i should at that to my list <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />
harlan....
trying to become the 150 MPH director this year <img border="0" alt="[evil]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_devil.gif" />
And yes Mir, you need to have it at 150. Deploy at 155 i believe. Not sure on an ET requirement, but if you're in the 8's you better be going over 150 <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />

IMO guys that use the chute at the 150-165mph range either: Have Chassis Issues, or think they look cool when they use it. The one caveat to this is poor tracks, with downhill or short shut downs. We SELDOM use the chute at 175-180 except at tracks w/ downhill or short shut down.

I thought that I had heard a rumor that for this year any door car going over 137mph needed to have a chute. Wether or not you use it is up to you. Don't think they say you have to.
Thanks,
Chris

He said you can get away with really really high 9s but anything else they gave him crap. Also for the 9s you are supposed to have a NHRA or IHRA lic. They kicked him out last time for not having one of those too.
