Default Killed trash talking C4 vette in the SS

Ok this guy lives in the same little town I do and i keep hearing how fast his vette is from locals. Well yesterday he heard my camaro running like boo boo. He drove up and asked me if i wanted to race and i gave him the sarcastic oh yeah lets go run em. Well I got the car fixed this morning, and he drove by again and i asked him do u wanna race now, he goes yes. So I was like what do u got under the hood. I look and its not even a lt1 . So i follow him out to a little two lane road, we line up and go on three honks. First off i cant even tell u how bad it was for him well by the time i had the ss at 120 he was atleast 8 cars or more back. We get back to my house and he says he didnt launch good, and he thinks he could beat the trans am i got parked in the garage . I told him the trans am is alot faster than the camaro but he insisted on running it. We lined up at the same road. We launch and im killing him all the way to my 145mph probably about 15 or more cars Well we go back to my house and he asks me if i was spraying and i reply with oh but of course . Well anyways i must have the fastest cars in town now.

TPI vette owners are the worst when it comes to what they think they can beat.

With a good driver though, the L98 will put up a good light to light fight (1/8 mile).

Still, those guys that have the 85-91's are more or less clueless as those are the only Vette's they can afford, but they have this big head syndrome because it's a Vette.

The worst is the 82/84 guys with their CFI

I'm telling you, those vette drivers should all be horse-whipped. They're like BULL(sh)ITT in that they give the non-snotty ones (ME) a bad name.

If I had a vette like that, I'd get a cheap forged rotating assembly and spray the hell out of it in an otherwise stock vette.

CFI's are the best. What did they have, 150 horsepower?

One of my most memorable races was against a 23 year old with a c4 vette. whatever year it was that they had a weird 4+3 automatic transmission. we raced from a light, and I absolutely slaughtered him. I must have had 7 or 8 cars on him by 110mph.

hehe, good kill..i had something like that happen. I had a bad opti the end of last summer, I didnt know it but I also had a dead Knock Sensor (defaults to pulling 22degree of timing at idle) anyways the car would backfire, sound like a viper and barely go anywhere under 3,000 rpm. Sounded horrible. Well after I got it all fixed some kid was running his mouth. Said it sounded like **** and he could take me no problem. When I pulled up he was like , I had removed my cat, and had a few mods done in between the last time he heard it and that day.

Turns out wasnt even his car, was a friends turd gen (No really, this thing was a rusted heap, and had a 305!!!) His friend didnt look to happy about the whole ordeal once we got lined up.

Its funny when people bit off more than they can chew. LOL

They had like 250
245hp 90-91, but 345tq way low in the rpm band. Very torquey, more so than the LT1. That's why they are good light to light, but on a roll, they don't have a bunch of steam as the factory TPI setup is done breathing around 4500-5000rpm.

The 4+3 someone referred to was available 84-88. 89 brought in the ZF 6 speed.

Yep. Vette drivers get a bad rap from the get go... Some are cool and know their ****.

But some, like my buddy at work, just do not know how bad *** the newer cars are. But, if you sat him down with a 70's vette he could educate most people. He is cool but he does not know or care to know about the newer engines and PCMs and Fuel Injection.

Sad to hear the death of a C4

Happy to hear it was an L98.

Ecstatic to hear it was an LT1 F-body that beat it!

yeah, it's like 4 speeds with I think 3 over drives. I'm not sure though. That transmission confuses me cause I've never actually driven a car with one. It's a Doug Nash trannsmission FWIY.
