Default What springs will last 30k?

Looking at a TR 224 or Tr 220 with TEA stage 1.5 heads and headers. Is there a spring that can deal with .560 lift for 30k? My car will see 10k a year and I don't feel like changing springs annually. Are there other cams that can make 380-390 rwhp (A4) that are easier on springs?

get patriot performance gold dual vp or comp 921's and they will last 100k with that little cam.

I imagine even 918's will last - it probably depends on how hard you run the motor.

I'm not sure if any spring out there can be dropped in and not checked for three years... I don't even think the stock ones should, from what I hear.

I'd probably go with 918's and get a spring tester... You'd probably need it regardless??

Have to check them every 15K
Got to watch out for too strong of a spring for low cam lift. I would go with 918's on that one. Duals if you have XE-R

Call TR and talk with Paul. I'm sure he'll have a good recommendation for you...FWIW, my buddy has been running his TR220 on 918s and has 30k on them without any issues and has no plans of changing them in the near future. IMO big, stiff duals are overkill for a baby cam like that.

I've got over 55K with more lift than those cams on 918's no problems. For that small of a cam I would recommend some 918's.

Any of the newer drop in springs would be fine. Crane, Comp(dual and single), or Patriot.

When I bought my cam from TR, they told me the 918's should be good almost indefinetly. But still recomended I checked them out every 30k miles. And I have .600" of lift on my intake side.

Y'all are forgetting that he's going with TEA 1.5's which probably came with Comp 987's. Those springs have a different diameter than drop in ls1 aftermarket springs. Comp 978's would be a good swap, but the 987's should have no problems with the 224 cam for quite some time.

I agree, most of the Comp stuff is just fine. What the chart above illustrates though is what has to be moved each time the spring goes up and down. Less dead weight = more nimble valvetrain.
