Question Camshaft Sensor & Bolt Removal?

Just curious about something, in the service manual it says to remove the camshaft sensor and bolt before removing the camshaft. Does anyone do this, and is it necessary?

Thanks.

Question

Thanks fellas, just makes you wonder why GM would include that in a service manual? An error?

Any theories?
