Using Spare with good tire as drag Skinny?
Hey all, My question is if I have 2 doughnuts from my SS and Hawk, why couldnt I get some real tires and use those as front skinnies? The rimes are obviously fine for fit and size. I would never want to use these on the street, just at the track. Would this be legal? Do u think englishtown would give me a hardtime? This is another solution to an expspensive problem. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Bear

Not a good idea at all...
Besides, I think the spare is a strange diameter, like 17" or something. You'd never find a skinny tire that would fit the wheel...
They aren't all that light, either...

Yes, the spare is marginally lighter than the stock wheels (well, your Firehawk wheels are EXTRA heavy but a 16x8 wheel/245 tire isn't that much heavier than the spare).
But track officials might let it go if you could find a 'real' tire that fit.

I don't think they are rated for more than like 65mph.
I could not find 16's that would fit the rims when I checked around a few years ago.

Definitely not a good idea to go fast w/compact spare; and any tech man at the strip who is knowledgeable at all will sign your card w/compact spares installed on front of your car...Step up for some approved skinnies---plenty used f.s. in classified parts...
