Default copper head gaskets and lower press. rad. cap?

when using copper head gaskets should the radiator cap be replaced with a lower psi cap to run a lower cooling system pressure??

what are the factors affecting this situation? (i.e. coatings , etc.)

It's a very good idea to run a lower psi cap. I run a 7psi cap, compared to the stock 22psi(Ibelieve).

Clark copper head gaskets told me to use a 7lb radiator cap. I got it from my local parts store (Napa). They also told me to run straight water for the break in period then put in the anti-freeze.

How does running a lower pressure cap help?

TIA

be lowering the cooling system pressure, you are less likely to have cooland leaking from the passages to the outside of the head or into the oil holes (i.e. lifter openings) .

o a side note, i heard from some one local that if you use block sealer on your leak you will take care of it once and for all. i'm not sure i want to dump some of that stuff in a modern engine like an lsX. anyone care to elaborate on that fact? pro's , cons?

It helps relieve pressure being built up in the motor. My car is mainly for drag racing so I just put the 7lb radiator cap on as a precaution. I also put the tablets GM sells (Ac Delco) to stop leaks.
