Default Harland Sharp Rocker Valve cover clearance

I've used the search but I didnt' find a direct answer.
Do HS 1.7 RR's need any grinding on a 2002 LS1 motor to clear the valve covers.

It was only 98s that had a problem with the HS and clearance, but even then it was very minimal. You should be just fine.

Some 5.3 castings also had clearance issues, I believe 862's if I remember correctly.
LS1 99+ Ok. some issues with valve covers.
On 98 it was the valve covers that had more issues.

I have installed alot of these and never had to clearance 99 and up heads or valve covers. The 98 valve cover is too short and does require some grinding but those heads hit everything.

There is major clearance problems with '98 valve covers. Mine required a 1" spacer from MTI to work ($245). '99 and up clear just fine. Great pieces, have fun )

Well FFHP PM'd me back over on my board and let me know they're going to have the rockers shipped directly to them and then put them on the heads they're building for me. This way they'll be sure that there are no problems. Awesome customer service on the part of FFHP.

I was searching for a post like this. Was it head interference or the dual spring retainers??
