Default Valvetrain noise after pushrods replaced

Should I have loud valvetrain noise after pushrod replacement. I did the job with the engine cold. One spring seemed fairly compressed, but I can't see what would have changed. They're bolt down self aligning rockers. Found one pushrod bent. No noise before install. I've heard they're noisy for 10-20 miles but want to make sure. I let it run for about 15-20 seconds, made sure I had good oil pressure right away then shut it down cuz I was scared of that kind of noise.

I didnt have any noise from mine when they were installed. I was going to suggest that the rockers could be the culpret. Mine do it all the time but not real loud. I would let it run and get the oil flowing through them and check your pressure every once in a while to make sure it stays where it should. Othere than that see if that helps any.

It took my car two days to settle down after valvetrain work, FWIW. Give it some time and see.

Mind did the same thing just last week and i was scared to death. Get out and drive it about 10 miles after that the engine is only noisy on start up for the next couple of times. DOnt worry about it

had a bent pushrod, well if you still have the noise, you might want to do a leak down test on the same cylinder that had a bent pushrod, if you have access to a scanner, you might try to scan it for a misfire in a cylinder, you can have problems even though you dont have a SEC light on, if you fail your leak down test...it is most likely a valve is bent <img border="0" alt="[cry]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_cry.gif" /> I have done this myself.

This might sound silly.... but are all the rockers torqued down to spec?

After I upgraded my springs, we tighened down the rockers to spec, turned the motor over a few times with the starter (quite a few actually) and re-checked the rockers.

Some of them actually needed to be re-torqued!!!
