Default Why so slow? 224/224 .581 , Mac Headers/ORYP , LS1 Edit, and 3,000 Vigilante,

i went to Houston Race Way Park on Sunday. However, I just had a 224/224 .581 , Mac Midlength headers/ Oryp, Vigilante 3000 and free mods in an A4 with 3.23 gears. My car ran consistant 12.6 @ 109 on 3 passes. This extremely slow for what I have and what do you all think is wrong. I did have TR6 NGK's and switched to some TR55's. R/T .545
60' 1.842
330 5.295
1/8 8.119
mph 87.83
1000 10.554
1/4 12.622
mph 109.03
I made my shifts at 6000, do ya'll thuink I should take it to 6500?

you'll see an easy .2-.3 tenths by bringing up those shiftpoints to 65-6600 rpm's

Those 60' times are pretty slow for the setup. What tires are you running? How much does it weigh?

The car with me in it weight about 3685 and I have some brand new Nitto Drag Radials with 28lbs. of air. I was launching @ 1500 RPM's. This car does have stock heads and a Ls1 Intake.

First thing you need to do is put about 20 psi in your tires. Then make sure you do a decent burnout so you get them sticky. SSboy nailed it already, the 6,000 shift points are probably hurting you really bad. Also you should probably look into getting a LS6 intake.

Definetly drop the air pressure in those nittos. I run mine at about 19 psi and do a good burn out. The best i have gotten out of mine is a 1.7 but that is also spraying 125 shot off the line (some spinning) <img border="0" alt="[burn out]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_burnout.gif" />

Drop the air pressure to 20psi do a good burn out. Don't be shy about it and run a good number. I run 1st and 2nd gear in my burnout. I pulled a best of a 1.63 60' with 275x40x17 Nittos. Launched the Vig3200 from 1500rpm.

first, you got too much air in your nitto's go 18-22psi. 2nd, you're shifting that car way too early . That cam is made to be ran high like 6600+ rpm, plus with stock heads you're not taking full advantage of that high lift cam. You'd be better off with something in the 560 lift range.

all of the above plus the track was ****. i was there also and my car wasnt hooking on 10inch slicks. they dont keep the track up anymore. i normally cut low 1.6s but that night i cut a best of 1.67 and most of the time 1.69 plus the humidity was up there.

I was there too this past Sunday. What car was yours? Have you tried taking any weight off the car for the track? Try some weight reduction, running with only 1/4 tank of gas, and you may benefit from some ET Streets of Hoosier QTP's. I ran 12.3's and one 12.2 that night @ 109 mph with no weight major weight reduction (still had spare tire in back) with the front Z28 wheels on there w/some mid 1.6 60' with my Vig3600 and some bolt-ons. HALs might also help you. If you bought that 3000 new I would use the free stall upgrade and get a 3600, you won't be sorry. Maybe see you out at the track again soon.

Your shift points are too low, might even be lower than 6000.

Try shift points between 6200 and 6400 and tell us what worked best. When you start going 91-93mph in the 1/8th the car is starting to run more where it should be.
