I think my lows are on about 90% of the time, and the highs are on about 10% of the time. Temp stays at 180. Outside temp is usually 90-105 degrees.

Your fans might sound like they are on all the time, but once you get up to about 35 (or is it 50?) mph they will shut off.

I am sure it is not 35 as that would make them off all the time. On the freeway with the A/C on doing 80mph I was seeing as high as 190*

When you're moving they don't need to be on though, since the air is pushed up into the rad on it's own without their help anyways.

Low speed = 228*
High speed = 232*

AC on = high speed

yesterday with the AC on the temp was stuck at 200* Guess I need to look for a better radiator. Both of my fans are set to 175*

I was stuck in brutal traffic on my way home yesterday, but since my fans run all the time at low speeds, my coolant temp never went above 194F. My oil temp never went above 201 and my trans temp never went above 180! So it's definitely beneficial.

Mine run a lot too. I never noticed it before, until I installed the SLP electric fan switch w/ green "low" LED and red "high" LED. So I can visually see when the fans kick on "low" or "high". I'd say my Low fan is on at least 85% of the time...if I stop at a light for even a second, it kicks on....interstate (non-stop) cruising is about the only thing that keeps it off consistantly.

My setup has low-speed fans on pretty much full
time and high speed on under any kind of hard
driving.

If you're trying to hold a 175F ECT you're probably
trying to make a 150F tank whilst sitting on 120F
asphalt. Need a lot of airflow to do that. Cooler air
helps. I could not hold 180F temps at 80MPH and
fans running, during my Georgia trip in July with
the A/C on. A/C dumps a lot of heat onto the rad.

You do not need to swap out the radiator. I would seriously recommend a quality coolant like Evans waterless coolant. I'm currently using NPG+. It cools alot better. Heat is an asset up to a point. Your engine will be more efficient, but like I said there's a limit. Over cooling is not wise. Mine comes on when I have the AC going, or am at low speed.

The thermostat prevents overcooling. More airflow,
more radiator surface area, all just give it more room
to work. Thermostat sets the minimum coolant temp
but only sets the max if everything else in the chain
is pulling its weight.

I am not trying to overcool it. I am trying to keep it from hitting 200* with the AC on and keeping it from having to run the fans every 2 seconds on a warm day

200 is what it goes up to, 195 even on the freeway doing 80mph. Its not the stat or fans letting it get that high

I'm aware of how a cooling system works.
