In the October issue of Car Craft, they have an article showing Lingenfelter's shop doing a couple of cam tests on a 5.3. They have a 2 piece cover on their test engine. You might give them a call and see if they sell one. They are a site sponsor too.

price is $275.00 shipped. they are re-worked original covers. from the looks of it, and being its a re-worked factory cover, they should definitely clear double timing chains.

There's a reason these never took off in the first place. They were quite sought after, but when the price came out, everyone else had the same reaction as you from what I can gather, they all

I think if he could bring the price down a good couple notches, people might consider them. Especially for those on their 2nd and beyond cam swaps.

Nice to have, but for $275? Extra labor would easily cover that for removal of the crank pulley. Not practical for someone unless it's a car that sees lots of cams IMO. Nice piece Nate, but a little too high I guess. Would be good for racers or shops that want to experimen t with cams.

I could have really used one of those a couple of years back... I was a bit of a "cam ****" at one time...

Do a cam change in a C5 and see how and you'll WISH u had one on your car.If u play with cams on a C5 u need to drop the rack, with OUR timing cover u dont.

The price is not bad when you think about all the labor it saves. You can play with cam timing on the dyno with hardly any work! Plus changing to another cam is that much easier. Just need a radiator with a hole in the middle LOL.

I actually thought about having one of these made untill I saw Nate was selling them.

The LS1 is so easy to do cam swaps in already why does anyone even need a 2 piece timing chain cover? Not like its a big chore to pull the pull and 1 piece cover.

no its not, but being able to just pull the top is that much easier. plus after you've already replaced your oil pump, and timing chain, with upgraded parts.....theres no reason to keep taking them off. This avoids that. Just not worth $275, IMHO.

True its not hard to pull the balancer and then the whole cover. It does add a little time. Time is money. And for someone who wants to make cam timing changes on a dyno this will pay for itself in time saved. I have seen increases of 15 hp on an engine dyno with a 2* change in cam timing. for someone trying to get every bit out of their motor it is well worth it. If you do not have a timing set that you can adjust cam timing with the cam gear this of course would be worthless except for changing cams and setting them up dot to dot.
