No 10's, but 2 lessons learned!
Lesson #1: When you change your brake pads, your calipers will stick out more and cause more clearance problems with your 15" drag wheels.
Lesson #2: Don't run two 5/16" spacers on each side in the back.
I was lucky and only had to replace 5 studs, but my wheel blew off and I went sideways as the car fell on the rotor on the driver's side on my first launch of the night on Saturday. I guess >400 RWHP + 6400-RPM clutch dumps don't work real well unless you've got the lugnuts threaded a bit more than I did. I am so mad that I had to miss out on this awesome weather that some of you others got to get in on. I'll be ready for the Shootout, but it doesn't look like the weather is going to cooperate.

Glad you're ok, that could have been BAD. Yikes...
I just put some Holeshot wheels on the car and will be changing out the pads soon, and didn't even think about that changing the fitment of the wheels... They're VERY close - but look VERY pimp.

Allen,
Hey man, Iam glad you are ok.
That really SUCKS!
What happen to you is why Madman put in 5/8 wheel studs in the Hot Rod this year.
I bent all my 1/2 wheel studs last season.
Good luck this Sunday at the Shootout!

damn man!!! Still glad you are ok though since it could have really been bad man
Larry01z28 had the same thing happen to him last weekend. He changed to a 12bolt with new rotors and pads and his wheels WOULD NOT fit. Ruined his whole friggin day
crap happens to everyone, just glad everything is ok.. there is always next time

Re: No 10's, but 2 lessons learned!
Glad you're OK... I had a simailar thing happen to me a couple of years ago. All 5 studs broke on the passenger side on my launch. Luckily the wheel didn't come out from under the car, and the car kind of fell down on top of the tire.
Even with my Wilwood brakes on the rear, I still have to run a thin spacer on the rear... I don't know if it's something with my 15x10" Weld wheels or what, but I figured they'd fit fine with no spacer at all.

Done that! It was the first time out with the pro stars and spacers in the rear and BAM! Snapped al five studs on the drivers side! Luckily the rotor landed inside the wheel ansd supported it. Ran down the parts store real quicka and had the studs replaced an hour and a half later and was back in action!

Just get rid of the rear brakes. Youll still have the fronts. Think of the weight savings.

Re: No 10's, but 2 lessons learned!
Definitely glad it happened off the line instead of further down the track...that's one of the reasons I was launching harder than I'd ever launched before. 5/8" of spacing between the wheel and the rotor is definitely not good. I think I would have rather gone ahead and run the 10 and learned the lesson sometime later when the weather wasn't as awesome as it was, but I didn't really have much choice in the matter. I just pray the weather holds up for this shooutout.

Be sure to get some longer studs. Launching at that rpm, I would want to see the stud out past the end of the lug for sure. Glad you and the car are ok

are you saying you were running a total of four spacers on the back?! (Yikes!!)
You are lucky they didnt come off halfway down the track!

I'm sure when you went to tighten the lugs you noticed that you got two turns or so of thread engagement?
I was told that you would want at least 7 full revolutions to have safe thread engagement.
I run no spacers out back I have 15x10's I just did a lot of grinding.
Good luck!
