Default Who's running solid motor mounts?

What are you running and how much weight does it save? Any problems associated with them?

I have been running Madmans solid motor mounts for almost a whole season. <img border="0" alt="[evil]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_devil.gif" />

They have been great. No problems at all and I think they only weight 4 to 6 pounds. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />

I too have the Madman mounts and have been running them for almost a year.

The car picks up slightly more vibration, but it is definitely liveable...at least to me.

I haven't had any problems with the knock sensors picking up the extra vibration and translating it into knock retard either. A lot of people seem to be concerned about this, but I haven't seen it and I have done a lot of logging and a lot of tuning.

BTW, these are considerably lighter then stock...probably by at leas 6 lbs. a piece. They also give you a ton more room.

Scott

Me too

Got a set of mounts from MADMAN. I really can't comment on vibration, since there's not a single rubber bushing left in the car and i run open exhaust <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

Total weight on the solid mounts is about 4 lbs, if my memory serves the stockers are over 20 for the pair. 17 lbs lighter sticks in my mind.

Can you install these easily in a driveway? (Say by supporting the motor with a jackstand Did it help you a lot at launch? <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

Chris,

IMO- this is a great Mod for a M6 Hot Rod. <img border="0" alt="[worship]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_hail.gif" />

With the Madman solid motor mounts you do not have to have a TQ strap. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />

with all 6,500 rpm clucth dumps that we do in are M6 Hot Rods we need all the help we can get. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Razz]" src="gr_images/icons/tongue.gif" />

Good luck this weekend racing. <img border="0" alt="[angel]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_angel.gif" />

Cool,

I think I'll order a set. I can't resist the easy weight reduction. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

thx.

Yes, you can install them in a driveway. That is exactly how I installed mine.

It took me about an hour and a half to R&R. But, I had the turbo manifolds off...so I had a bit more room to work.

What about if you have a BMR K-member?
(which goes up to the actual rubber mount)
Does anyone make some thing for this application?
I want to torque strap it,but it will be a real
PITA to do it right.(I don't dig the canvas
straps)

Spohn makes a set also and they are rated at 8.5lbs each. They are little cheaper but seem to be 2lbs heavier than Madmans. Does anybody have a accurate weight? If Madmans are deffinatly 2lbs lighter i will get a set also.
