Default Finally broke asomething after a year 1\2

Went to SCD tonight(48 deg,65% hum,30.11 baro) -817 DA for some more testing on ET Streets. Ran in the same setup as the Spring Break race that went 10.51@135 with 3000+ DA.
First run 30% starting power level with 2.5 second time in to full power at 5000 RPM launch and 850 psi bottle pressure:

10.18@137 w\1.44 60'(also slight head wind)

Hooked ok on that pass-let the bottle heat up to 900 psi, hard to keep up in cold weather I pushed the starting power to 50% with 2 second time in and left at 6000 RPM.

Dumped the clutch and she left with a rage 1.39 60'(best so far on ET Streets) shifted to 2nd and the car shook like crazy. Eased to the return road and loaded on the trailer.

Once loaded looked under to acess the damage-RIPPED the top torque arm rodend\bolt clean out the mounting bracket, bolt still in the rodend -Random Tech torque arm setup.

Oh-well not bad for the abuse from many 1.47 on the motor and 1.37 60' on 28" slicks .

Well, at least thats a cheap and easy thing to fix. I've seen a couple of those adjustable random techs get shredded at the track. Probably should go with something heavier duty, like that Madman setup. I've never seen one of those get tweaked.

Glad to hear it was something simple. When you called and told me what happened, I thought you did what I did at the TR shootout and broke the bolts off the tq arm bracket.

1.39 60' on ET streets is impressive. I guess I should consider going back to SCD if they prep the track like that.

At least you have not bent the R/T tq arm, it's a really good piece, I am sad to be getting rid of mine...

How come you are not running 1000 bottle pressure?

Hey Allen,

Sorry to hear about your problems.

Give Madman a call about his TQ arm. Maybe you need to ask him about the "Coach" Star Wars Mod!

Allan, give me a call on Monoday. I can give you the number to my chassis guy, he is making torque arms for LS1 cars right now. Tom is getting one put in his car as we speak. Let me know if you are interested.

Allan if you want the best torque arm out there . The most adjustability AND strongest let me know. I can set you up with the new OUTLAW arm. It has more adjustability than the race version and it is 3 times stronger but only a 1/2 pound heavier.

Can any other t/a put down consistent 1.2s 60ft and run mid nines?????

The torque arm we are doing for Tom Kempf also has adjustments at all attaching points. One key thing about our arm(IT USES A BRONZE BUSHING, WHICH IS SELF LUBRICATING IN THE FRONT MOUNTING POSITION)we found that a heim joint wont assist in keeping the car straight because of its ability to roll from side to side. When we get to Bowling Green, I will bring an extra one for anyone who would like to try it.....Chassis1

Fortunately it is not engine related! How long are you going to be down for?

Thanks for all the warm responses and suggestions

Ive been real happy with the Random Tech arm over the last 2 years with all that Ive put to it.

Jason-I was impressed how SCD was hooking. Going to be going to SCD on wednesday more often.

PSJ- got tired of waiting on the bottle to warm up,I normally run at 950-1000psi.

MADMAN-you have any pics of the OUTLAW setup? e-mail them to me.

Tom-everything is doing good with the engine. Will be trying my intake agin with a direct port setup soon has I get this fixed . Will have it fixed next week.

Not sure if Iam going to get a whole new setup or just make a new beefy bracket and get the T\A off the trans.

btw, the gears and fuel pump are in. Thanks for all the advice with the gear swap. I'll call you tomorrow and let you know all we had to do to get the crush collar crushed.
