Default How much interest is there in an 8.8 housing modded to fit Fbodies?

I was about to order a rearend from Extreme Chassis until I heard about all their problems.

I scoped out a guy in my own town that will do it fairly cheap. He's been building rearends for 25+ yrs.

I'm wondering if there's any interest in getting just the 8.8" housing already modified for the spring perches, LCA brackets, and Torque Arm mount? In other words a complete ready to bolt in housing that you would have to fill with your axles and center section.

How much would you pay for something like this? Just the housing I mean.

He's not cheaper for axles or center sections so that part would be upto the customer but the hard stuff would already be done and Mustang 8.8" stuff is relatively cheap.

If there is enough interest I'll contact the Admin of this forum for advertising purposes before going forward with this venture.

P.S. I'm a long time member of CamaroZ28.com with over 6000 posts but I just lurk here.

Depending on price it could be a nice alternative.

I already make them. I have had a very busy summer and have not had time to ramp up production but things are loosening up now allowing me the time to do so. Heres a link to my original post on it

I have a jig all ready to go.

I think someone could sell quite a few if they were modified correctly w/ no problems w/ the welds or fitment issues. I'm a little learry about sending someone a large amount of money for one now since I'm one of the guys that craig tried to screw out of $2k

I'd be interested, Just the housing with the axle tubes, torque arm mount and spring mounts and what not, then yo ubuy your spline axles, your gear, everything for it. Just make it bolt in, then you fill it up with the internals. I'd drop a good 750-1000 on a good housing.

I'd be interested, but I unless my rear goes out, I won't be buying a replacement for awhile. However, if all goes well and they can be built strong with no whine, I'd definately consider it.

I think $700 sounds a little high, given that a 9 inch housing from Moser is $585.

$585 from Moser gets you a generic 12 bolt housing with leaf spring perches only... not a direct bolt in which costs $850.00 and comes with the lousy four bolt torque arm bracket and no provison for ABS or TCS.

Haha I guess i should have read where you said 9 inch not 12 bolt My appologies there. I was refering to the 12 bolt bare housing that I just checked on and its actually $590.00 but the bolt in is $850.00.
