Why does it seem impossible to get a rear to withstand reasonable power?
How come it seems like every fbody with a 12 bolt rear breaks it, usually multiple times. How are they able to build vipers w/ 525 lbs.ft. of torque from the factory and it rides like the factory street car that it is. I have 430 hp at the wheels and i've broken 2 12 bolts. Why is it that a 1967 427 Corvette with 500+ hp didn't blow its rear to hell almost 4 decades ago and hear I am, 37 years later desparately trying to figure out what the hell i can do to keep from having to replace the rear on my street car every 6 months. Is it just me or does this problem outrageous? Or is there some fool proof solution that I'm not aware of?

Its also because the older cars didnt have good drag radials as we do know and it beats the rear end. Also cars of today make torque much faster, and everyone is always trying to make something lighter, i can only imagine some of those light weight parts not being as strong as they can be.

The reason is traction!!! we have lots, they have little. i also blew my 12 bolt, but went right to a spool.
9" break as well, my buddy has had 2 in his car with only 340 rwhp.
