Ran a Supercharged '04 GTO at the track...
...and tore him a new one!
DISCLAIMER: I know this Goat should be running way faster than it does in the videos below,
but it was "Run whatcha brung" day at the track...
Here's the video:
Blown GTO vs Bolt-On Mach 1
I had to make the video pretty big - any smaller & you couldn't read the timing boards.
If anyone still can't read them, I have a larger version that even Mr Magoo could read. It's almost 10 MB though...
Since I knew someone would call BS ,
I took video of the above car (and mine) in the pits cooling-off between runs,
with numbers clearly visible on the sides of both cars:
Blown GTO & Bolt-On Mach 1 in the pits
The GTO ran a a bit faster (13.346 @ 104.49 w/2.0X 60 ft) against an '04 Cobra, who ran a 12.067 @ 119.09 (OUCH!).
'04 Blown GTO vs '04 Blown Cobra
The Goat also ran a 13.2X @ 104.8X (2.00 60 ft) early in the day, which I got on video but I didn't
catch his time before it was gone from the board.
(The 5.0 car he ran was so far ahead of him that I got bored waiting for the GTO's time to appear... )
Personally, I'd be more than a little irked if I was the owner of this car,
which was supposedly built by LPE.
Either the tune is extremely safe, or something is broken.
I talked to the owner several times & he seemed quite satisfied with his times - and since it's his car - that's all that really matters I guess.
So, I got what I had been looking for - a run with a modded '04 Goat.
Maybe not the fastest or best-tuned GTO around, but a run nonetheless...
Also, not a new best time, but still my best run of the day:
(This is not my slip running the GTO BTW)

1) My z28 2002 ls1 went faster than that STOCK 1/4mile......
2) That is a magnacharger roots blower for the vette and gto, go over to the corvette forum, those blowers put down really nice numbers, supposing it was with a nice tune..
3) maybe that guy didn't know how to drive??whats up with that ****? he runs about as fast as the old 01 cobras.N/A

Supercharger/other mods were supposedly installed by LPE - I couldn't imagine it would leave their shop without a good tune.
As far as driver goes, I watched several of the runs pretty closely & he seemed to drive the car OK (but not great).
60 ft times weren't great @ 2.0 - 2.2 or so, but they weren't 2.4 - 2.6 either.
Car was an auto so how bad could the driver screw the rest up after launch???
It's not like he spun the tires 1/2-way down the track & ran 13.7 @ 117 mph.
From talking to him, he doesn't even think the car is running slow - he seemed pretty happy with his ET/mph.
Unless someone else suggests it, I don't think he even knows anythings wrong with the car...

he needs to take that thing back to LPE and bitch hard core, cause they charge an arm and a leg anyho for any work they do. I would be very unhappy. I had a 98 Vette before the z28 and it was an a4 with Light mods ie intake exhaust no cats and ran a 12.96@108 was best time. With one of those chargers starapped to it **** i would HAVE to be running at least low 12's high 11's to be satisfied.

Nice runs in the mach. Sucks to be the GTO guy though. Maybe they stuck the outer shell of a supercharger on and there's actually no internals in it? Kinda like a makeshift intake manifold. I'm with you though I would be all over the people that installed it and tuned it etc. Thats why it's best to do your own work on the car if you can because at least you know who to blame if it doesnt work. Cool vids to btw.

I KILLED that GTO in the 1/4.
I had video to prove it.
It's not my fault the car wasn't running up to it's potential...

Angus - Thanks for posting the vids. Something's definitely up with the GTO. Maybe he had it in 2nd gear the whole way?

Good kill Angus. I think if that car was running the way it "should" run, he would have layed the smack down. Hell maybe he just wasn't pushing it. If its that slow I would take it straight back to the place that did the work and raise hell. Nice vid too.

Track prep was for **** that day, and they only prepped the near/right right for DR's & slicks.
The far/left lane had no water box at all - I ran my 12.91 in the right lane & only 13.1 in the left lane...
