Default best fluid for the diff?

I remember reading about this before deploying, but I have after getting back, I have forgotten the answer, and cant find the thread...

What kind/brand/WT of gear oil is best to go with on the rear diff...

98 M6, with the rusty looking cover, I think that is the Torsen but I could be backwards on that one too...

The fluid wants the special limited slip additive if it
is not the Torsen (like if you got an Auburn unit,
which I think was something more common in '98
than later). There should be a little tag on one of
the diff cover bolts if it's a factory Auburn I think.
The Torsen doesn't care.

I think the best way to check Torsen vs Auburn
is get the wheels off the ground, put it in neutral
and slowly turn one tire; if they both go in the
same direction it's a posi type and if they go in
opposite directions it's a Torsen (or a limited slip
with no preload grip left).

Try this, I've been using it and I'm a believer.
