LS6 intake problem...

LS6 intake problem...
I’m about to install my ls6 intake this weekend bought from a member on the board, but ran into a problem. I ordered the 2001+ coolant line and plugs from a sponsor last week and called them up to check on my order. It turns out GM has a national backorder on these parts. I even called my local dealer to see if they had them (part numbers 12568478 and 12562788) and they can’t even find them (surprise, surprise… ). Anyways, the sponsor says it will be at least 2 weeks until they start to ship their orders. I’d like to install my intake this weekend if possible. I’ve been told that the ls6 intake can be grinded on the bottom flat part to clear the existing coolant lines, but I don’t feel too comfortable doing this. Are there any other options I have? Is there anyway I can cut out the part of the coolant line that runs from the back to the front and somehow plug it up? Any help is appreciated.

Yes there is, you can cut the existing coolant line up a bit and with the proper execution of soldering/welding you can make the rear coolant plugs and the LS6 style front coolant pipe out of it.

but it also wont hurt you to wait a few weeks until they get the proper parts in to begin the install.

Thanks for the help guys. I managed to make it work with the existing coolant lines. What I did was use my dremel to cut off the back two ends that bolt down to the block. I connected these two with a line of heater hose (1/4” diameter) using a pair of clamps. Then, I hacked up the front two a little. On the driver’s side I basically cut off right after the “T” section that runs to the throttle body. Then I left about 2” of pipe on the passenger’s side and connected the two lines with a small piece of heater hose. It cleared the intake, and the hose should stand up to the heat seeing as I’ve been using that same type of hose for the TB bypass mod.

thats actully thoughfull thinking id have to say. i would still puth the correct parts on though once they become available again(friggin gm )
i think itd be a little cleaner and less to leak, espically on the rear ones
