Probably not, most performance cams are going to give you more power above 3k (for our applications), which is where I've mostly stayed on road courses.

Any old 224 cam would probably do nice on a road course. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />

I am running the Hot Cam and have no complaints .
But Then Again all I can compare it against is the stock cam.

I just had Nick Agostino pick a cam for my car which gets a lot of roadcourse time. He installed his Lunati 224/224/.544/.544/114 cam along with Grots and LS6 intake. The increased torque comes in at about 3000 rpm which I think should work well with my 4.10 gears.

You run 4.10s when you road race. I am having a new forged shortblock built and I am going to the XE-R 226 cam and this is going to be my road race combo.. Still undecided if I am going to change rear gears or not. I am hoping that the faster ramp rates make up for the usual loss in lowend torque..

I run the MTI Hammer cam. (222/222 .56/.56 112ls).

Torque gets wicked around 2800-3000 rpm <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

I bet it does Chris.. So many people running so many different combos for road racing.. When I first considered road racing I was told that 3.42's and 3.73's were the gear of choice and now I see people with 4.10's.. They must be shifting all the time..

shifting is one thing...fighting traction is another.

I had 4.10s for a while and went back to 3.42s.

1st gear was useless and 5th too hard to find, at times, especially when strapped into the seat and being the owner of rather long legs. 5th was WAY over there.

Also, I have actually began getting better lap times using lower RPMs ... short shifting, if you will.

I pulled my rev limiter DOWN to 5700. To me, it's added insurance against a mechanical over-rev, if I blow a shift.

When we raced the Fbody in the World Challenge, I ran a 323 rear. This allows you to NOT have to use 5th gear on most tracks. 5th gear is an overdrive gear, and takes away HP, and it would take away top speed on some tracks. Also, by using a 323, you can then use 1st gear on the race track in some slow corners. What tracks do you race at?
For example, we would use 1st gear at Sears Pt in turn 7 and 11. (the old trun 7).
On some tracks we would use a 308 rear gear. this would give us 4 usable gears without using 5th gear.
If you use a 373 or 411, you can never use 1st and on some tracks you cannot use 2nd, and you will always usse 5th.

Just my opinion.
