hypertech thermostat
i just installed a BBk 80mm throttlebody, smooth bellows, 160 thermostat, MSD plug wires, and installed a predator tune. everything is working good, but i am a little confused. every car that i have ever installed a 160 thermostat on, always ran around 160-170 degress while driving down the highway. i realize the engine will heat up if you don't have your fans set to come on earlier, but they always cooled off when you got on the highway. i checked the box the thermostat came in and it is marked "160". the car never gets below around 190. i even have the fans programmed to come on early, but they don't come on until 210 degrees. has anyone else experienced this problem?

Hmm, should be around running around the 172*-185* range I would think, most cars with a 160* t-stat don't run right at 160* though...your 190* though a little high isn't too far off the norm I don't think.
Are you checking the temps with the Predator?

From what I've heard, the temperature guage is just a 'dummy' guage and cannot be counted on for accuracy. If you can, get the car scanned and see what your temperature actually is.

What about after 10 minutes at idle on a hot summer day?

when i checked the ECT with the predator, it was around 180*, but the guage was showing closer to 200*. it dropped as low as 175*, but the guage never moved. never would have thought it would be that far off.
