Default Will a Converter make my tranny stronger?

It is about time that I buy a Converter. I bought the car in 2000 and have all the bolt ons besides this and a nice direct port nitrous setup. I ate my tranny up and converter last summer and I don't want to do that again soon. I have a chance to buy a SS3800 Yank localy used for a really good price. Should I go for it? Will that and a tranny cooler make my tranny hold together alot better?

I don't think the converter will help your transmission be stronger. The transmission cooler will definately help your transmission last longer. Don't get the converter without a cooler.

The performance converter actually puts more stress on
your trans.

The more moderate ones, maybe you still don't exceed
the maximum stock shaft torque, just beef up the
curve by low-end torque multiplication. But you go
put something on there where you're multiplying
torque all the way up to torque peak, and maybe
up that torque peak too, and you can get well past
the rating of the transmission. Popcorn shrimp, all
you can eat.

Will make your car run stronger, though, that's for
sure.

Just throw your converter in(a big one! always go big if not you will regret it down the road!) and drive it till it craps...then rebuild it stronger!

That is one way to put it! LOL

I agree though... just go ahead and put a converter in, as long as you have a trans cooler you will be good. I had about 15,000 miles with a Vig 3600 in my stock 70k mile tranny with out a problem. I just bought a built tranny because I plan on spraying my car
