Question Any idea what's causing this dip in my curves?

I got to dyno my new combination at Terry's place yesterday. 394hp and maybe 380 torque depending on where you read it. I was satisfied with the PP stage II LS6 heads and FM13 112+2 running through the 12bolt with 3.73s. (Now I just need a pulley. ) 29deg timing at the end.

The dip is huge. There was no knock retard even when the A/F was bumped up to almost 14.0. Does this look like its related to the TC? Its a SS3800. We played with the timing a little but it didn't seem to affect it. I'm still scratching my head.

well it started at 13.3, then 13.7ish then 13.9-14.0 and the power kept rising each time with zero knock retard. The Traction Control was removed. All I can think of is some weird converter action.

Any chance my big 4" Mufflex exhaust is giving falsely lean readings because the motor isn't 'filling it up' or the probe has to be deeper inside? I'm still not seeing any KR on the street.

On the dip thing I'm going to do some runs and log rpm, speed, current gear, and TC slip speed. Why didn't I think of that before?

that seems reasonable on the exhaust, a leak wil read it leaner, not much exhaust gas i could see it

but on the other hand with PE set at 1.225 it was getting about 13.8 which seems about right.. so the number may be valid

I run 13.5 to 13.8 on my car and it seems to be doing just fine. As long as you aren't getting KR and your making power, your ok. For some odd *** reason, some people on this board think you have to be running 12.5 to 1 to be safe. My stock short block has 27k hellish miles at a "lean" A/F ratio without any adverse effects.

What was timing doing when it dipped? Torque management?

The car is not as lean as the dyno showed that day.The filter on the wide band was dirty showing a false lean condition.Your A/F is fine with the 1.225 setting.

Thanks for the follow up, Terry. That makes a lot of sense. I'm still working on the tip. I think its a computer related TC/tranny issue.
