Default How much rwhp will Fikse 17x11's cost me?

I read somewhere that a guy lost 10rwhp when he switched from 16x8's to 17x11's and they were approximately ten pounds heavier each wheel. That would mean that .5 pounds of unsprung weight = 1 rwhp. Anyone else have any back-to-back dyno results?

I was also wondering how much TR-6's gapped at .038 are going to hurt me on motor compared to tr-55's at .55? Anyone got a clue? I was told about 5.

This sucks because I will be losing 15 from the wheels and plugs and 5 more probably because I will have to run less timing than I normally could. My tuner said he is going to tune my car perfect on motor and then just back off the timing 2 or 3 degree's so I don't detonate with the TNT 100 shot.

Any advice or insight would be GREATLY appreciated.

Normally 28 degrees of timing is good for up to a 125 shot. Just have your tuner set it there. My timing is set at 28 and ill be spraying 125 and hopefully get at least 100hp out of it.

Does the outside air temperature effect the air-fuel at all? I would assume that colder air would allow me to run more nitrous. I will probably run the 28 degrees just to be safe even though I will only be running a 100 shot. Then in colder weather, I can run a 150 shot if I feel lucky.

i don't know exactly how much you'll loose, but it should be minimal. fikse's are pretty light wheels.

With the weight of the fikse's I doubt youll loose any power.

If your tire/rim combo is near the factory wheel tire height than the amount loss due to parasitic losses will be next to nothing. (assuming weights of tire/wheel combo are similar)

As far as timing vs hp loss, from what I read on here, it's 1* of timing = 1-3 HP

Colder weather will have colder air. Colder air is more dense than warmer air. Colder air has more O2 per given volume than warm air at the same volume. More O2 stuffed into the CC per given volume will make more power assuming there's enough fuel to match the increased O2 delivery.

As far as being able to run a bigger shot based on cooler weather. It's not too scientific and leaves a huge amount of room for guessing/error in terms of nitrous dosing. Best to tune it on the dyno as safe as one can that way you don't have to worry about going lean = bye bye motor.

I have read that 1lb on your wheels of (rotating mass) = 1 hp. But I have not done any tests to prove this myself.

These wheels are definitely alot heavier than stockers. Back when I was stock, I had 16" take-offs with nitto DR's. I remember the day I pulled them off, I sat up straight and reached over and sat them down. When I reached over to put on the Fikse, I almost threw my back out. I had to stand up and kneel to put them on. So I don't know. I can't believe no one here has done a back-to-back dyno with wheels with 30k members. Maybe I'll be the first.

I had chrome 17x11 ZR1 rims from AFS with 315/35zr/17 BFG Comp T/A ZRs and heavy was an understatement! I never weighed they but they had to be close to double the weight of my stock 17x9 SS "ZR1" with the OE 275/40zr/17 F1s. The 315 tire was most of the weight.
