Question #317 Vs.#035 Heads - Whats the difference?

What is the main difference between these two types of heads?

- They both have the same size combustion chamber.
- They both had the "D'" shape exhaust ports.
- They are both made out of aluminum.

From the way it looks, after you get them ported, shouldn't they flow the same?

One is a better casting.
317 = Sand casting vs 035 = diecast.
Can't remember which is better.
Patriot did buy 100s of the 035 diecast, so I would think that
it would be the better of the two.

Keep in mind that there are several shops that are fixing 100s of Patriot 035 diecast heads.

part number: 12572035

I found two casting numbers, casting number should be either 317 or 035 (02 and up LQ9 6.0 aluminum heads)

Specs:

LQ9
01+ 6.0L Truck
Material: Aluminum
Combustion Chamber Volume: 71.06cc
Intake Port Volume: 210cc
Exhaust Port Volume: 75cc
Intake Valve Diameter: 2.00 inches
Exhaust Valve Diameter: 1.55 inches

Maybe Shaun @ SMC can chime in (or someone bump him this post). I heard he has these heads at a good price.

Just an fyi, any fbody built after 1/00 had 241 heads. i found this out with my trans am and a couple other 00 fbody's. If its a 00 model year car built in the last few months of 99 it will not have 241 heads.
