my cousin wants to race me at the track, and is convenced that he will beat me. would like some outside opinions. i have a 2001 ws6 m6. it has an mti airlid, ported t/b, long tubes, ory, 160 stat, hpp3, lca, and a cutout. he has a 2003 mach 1, it has a cold air, programer, bassani cat bat and ory, drag launch kit, lca, adjustable front shocks, and 4.10's. i will be borrowing some drag radials, he will be running mickey thompsons. i think he will pull a car or 2 off the line, but i think i will pull him on top end. i would like to hear from all u mach guys out there too. thanks.

do you have 3.42 gears? if he pulls a car or two i think that might be too much to over take, but if it's a close launch you might pull ahead.......what kind of trans do those have? they run close stock with ls1s don't they? i think they're my favorite of the mustangs by far.........

edit: you'll need to hook....just from glancing at their board it seems like there is a huge difference in times between the mach that can hook(like he will with his set up) and the cars that are running more mods but with street tires......i guess that's kind of obvious, but it doens't look like it takes much more than better breathing and traction to get them into the 11s with 4+ gears and a stick

I may be stupid but I raced what I thougt to be a new mach 1 at the track last weekend and it only ran a 14.3

His biggest advantage is the 4.10s, but depending on what size M/Ts he's running, he may run out of gear before the traps and need to shift, giving the opportunity for your cars top end to over come him.

I see it goin either way. If he does get 2 cars on the launch, you're toast. Some N2O would come in handy...

sorry man but unless you get a great launch and throw 'em well he's gonna get you on the track. it will be close but if you get a good launch it will be close

suspension is everything, that being said if hes got his suspension dialed in then, well, good luck bc ur gona need it. but hey if u loose to him on the track just talk him into a highway race from like a 70mph roll.

I think due to his suspension and gearing, he will get you in the 1/4. He is gonna have a big advantage off the line, and that is hard to overcome in a quarter mile race. If you took it up to about 130 or so, you'd probably get him in the top-end (especially with the way he's geared), but he's set up for that kinda racing, and it looks like you are not (as I don't see any suspension work in your list besides LCAs).

Sorry man...I think he's got ya on this one. Please let us know how it goes, and I hope you prove me wrong.

This will be a VERY close race. You have more power mods, but he has more drag based mods. If you can a good launch and traction, this will come down to the very end. Otherwise, he should pull you pretty hard down the 1/4 and you will be playing catch up.

I don't think they even brake 300hp... I know you will beat him, Yah he has 4.10 gears but like was said earlier he will run out of gear. If you get those slicks and heat them up you even have a better chance. I think those crapstangs run low 14s to high 13s. I run low 13s to high 12s and I put 3 cars on one and he had bolt ons but stock suspension.

Mach 1s are not 14 second cars. Not even close, bro. They are a good match with an LS1 car stock for stock.

i have seen his car run numerous times and have also driven it. his best time before the cold air, program,susp. mods, and different slicks was a 12.7?. he was on bfg drag radials, launched at 6000+ rpm and dead hooked. i was standing right by the car. his 60ft was a 1.7. his rwhp was 290 before cold air, program. i know numerous people with ls1's that have the same setup i have and they all run 12.4's-12.5's on tires. i raced him from a roll 2 times once from a 30 punch (i was in 2nd and at 3000) he jumped about 2 cars and i was pulling on him the whole time (i know im a dumb *** but hadnt raced anyone from a 30 punch before. then we raced from a 40 punch, i was in 2nd again(first even from a roll spins really bad for both of us) i jumped by a car and just kept pulling away. that was before he had his new mods and when i had only an airlid and cutout. he has added the above listed mods which i know help him more in the qtr, but i have about a 50rwhp advantage over him now, so i know i will pull him on the top end. and hes only ran that number 1 time. hes probably been to the track since then, but hasnt raced a car with my setup. i think it's gonna be a really good race. gonna all come down to the hole shot, and him not breaking anything launching like that. he posts on here sometimes his sign on is jester. I'll get 4.10's if i have to

I raced a friend of mine in her 04 blue mach and she ran a 13.3 bone stock, then what does she do the next wed, she puts on her slicks and runs 12.9.

My car is very similar in mods to mike's. The exception being that I have the stock suspension and I am running BFG drag radials. I think it should be a good race.
