Default comp cam 222/224 566/568 lsa 112 or 114

thinking about going with this cam, i want something streetable and none of the idle surging at all, i know the 112 will have a choppy idle and i want that but will this cam make the car surge, where it drops below idle speed if it does then i'm gonna go with the 114 lsa, i do have ls1 edit, i have a 2000 camaro 6 speed, with ported ls1 heads milled .035, lt headers, ls6 intake, ported tb, and lid, will this setup get me close to 400 rwhp, thanks for the advice

If you want a choppy idle, definately go with the 112. I don't think you'll have much trouble, if any, when it's properly tuned. Since you have a 6 speed I don't think it would be too much at all. You'll enjoy the lope and added midrange that the 112 provides!

Yes, the 112 works great,. That may be the reason that Comp uses that lsa as their shelf grind. Most of the time when people get it cut wider is for passing smog in some areas, but it has a little hit to it too.

Go whith the 112 you have a m6. As long as you get a good tune you shouldn't run into any surging problems

I talked to a Comp tech the other day and he told me that they will custom grind a 224/224 112lsa on a +2*at no extra charge. I was trying to come close to the TR 224/224 112lsa which is $430 and the Comp is $350.

so the 112 surging problems can be fixed where it doesn't surge at all with edit, what changes in edit would you make to fix it

I am currently running a TR cam on a 112 LSA in my A4.
Sounds great! Although it has been tuned, it still runs pretty rich and searches for idle when i slow or stop abruptly. There is also "some" surge from time to time.

Very happy with the sound / performance.
It just sounds like it's going to die. Has not died yet.

Awesome mid range power.
i say go for the 112....

But i am partial.

well i have the same cam but on a 114 because COMP said it should pass smog no problem. before i tuned it it had a bit of low speed surging and bucking... it also had aflat spot under 3K. mods in sig, with my cut out open...(no cats) it is ****** LOUD!
and has an AWSOME LOPE! i never thought a 114 could sound this good!
and when runing threw my stock cat back you can still tell its cammed but barely...

tuning did fix 98% of the surging, bucking.! and the power band is smooth as hell!
i really like this cam for smog cars.... although now id love a bigger cam! but this is a great cam for CA guys!

i can smell fuel but thats because of the LT's and (no cats) and cut out....

but in all its a great cam... power comes on strong around 3K and redline comes very fast! every grear pulls so ****** hard now!

I loved My TR224/224/112 in my old car but this time I'm going with the 114 Lsa, I hope I like it. I dont feel like changing out the cam every two years and also the fear of droping A lifter. I possibly would change it out every two years but my JPR lifter tool does noy work to well.
