Default Should I do a transgo shift kit with my ST3500?

I already have purchased it but the guy installing it isnt comfortable putting in the shiftkit also. He says i dont need it. Should I have someone else install the converter and put the shift kit in also? Or should I just sell the shift kit?

What would be the difference? Will my tranny last longer with the shiftkit?

Thanks, any info appreciated...

when I first started modding my car, one of my first mods was a VIG3200 stall. I did NOT have them install the shift kit (although they recommended it). Needless to say, I was back in the shop a week later getting the shift kig installed. Without it, the shifts were sloppy and soft.

I beat the hell out of that trans for about 30K miles without issues. Breaking the tires lose when shifting from first to second gear in an auto was priceless

You can modify the shift kit to last longer & make the shifts firmer at WOT. Call me & I will tell you what you need to do, 800 7763288 anytime after 12 noon PST.

I have heard from the people at f-body central that they do not recommend the shift kit. They say it helps the little things in the tranny but hurts the big things. They are not willing to install it because it is high liability or something...

What should I do? I already have the shiftkit but cant decide whether to have someone install it or not...

What if you had a HPP3 and rased the shift firmness? Would that help?

DO NOT install a shift kit AND raise the pressure with your predator. One or the other. I would recommend installing the shift kit. I have the transgo with 3 washers (3800 stall), and I love it

I agree. Don't do both or you could be in for trouble. I trashed my pump by having both done at the same. I didn't know that doing both was bad at the time.

A shift kit will increase the life of your transmission. Just remember to change the line pressure with your HPP3 or Diablo back to stock. Heat will be your main concern so a tranny cooler would be a good investment.

Do you have proof of that statement? I have never ran a shift kit on my car ever and never plan to. I recommend tuning it instead.

I don't have a shift kit in mine either. When I got it tuned the line pressure was bumped up a bit. I always wondered if a shift kit would be better.

I dont know who has been lieing to you, but this statement is 100% incorrect. If you really belive that then you need to do some research. Im going to have to raise the flag on that one (just like at panchos)

Almost everyonbe Ive talked to(tranny shops & enths) have told me that the Transgo strengthens the tranny and if you go to the Transgo website it says the samething. Here is a sample of what the website says

Q Will the installation of TransGo Performance Shift Kit® hurt my transmission?
A On the contrary, the TransGo Performance Shift Kit® will IMPROVE durability by increasing friction component apply/holding ability. This reduces heat buildup that harms friction components, and at the same time increases cooling and lubrication flow in the transmission.

I personally love my Transgo(knock on wood) and I went with 1 spacer in the 1-2 acumm. Also at least on the 60e while your in there you need to replace the plastic accum with a aluminum one I think its like $10. The Transgo kit isnt like any other because it replaces far more stuff than say the B&M one. As far as line pressure-it is recommended that when you do the Transgo you put your line pressure back to stock. Antoher good thing about the Transgo with the 4l60e is it makes removing torque managment a little safer.

When I did my TC, I asked the same question when I put my TC in, and was told by many repuatable transmission shops NOT to install a shift kit. It increases wear and will shorten the life of the transmision.

So Transgo is straight up lying and advertising these lies?? Alot of the tranny places say these things because they dont want to do the installs. I learned that when I was looking for a place to install mine.
