Lightbulb Risk of Removing Codes P1133/1153 With Edit

Is there a risk of turning the codes off with edit? Ever since my LT's I get 1133 and 1153 codes ever so often. I have replace the O2 with no help. I also cleaned them. All that I did helped for a short period. It sounds like a lot of us with LT's have the same problem. I just turned both off "X" using Edit.

Has no one turned off 1133 and/or 1153 code? I guess not.

I have them turned off on my husbands car w/ pacesetter headers. Been off for about a month car is running great and have seen no down side to it. The pcm just want to see the heated 02 senors change readings a little more than they do at low rpms. I have found that it really hasn't changed the overall AFR that much by being "slow" to change.

I'm really thinking about doing this to my car too. It kicks my car into open loop and my gas mileage goes to crap when I throw the 1133 code. I drive the car about 70miles round trip to work and back and I HATE knowing it is dumping all that extra fuel in there during open loop. If I disable the 1133/1153 code will it stay in closed loop?

We tried everything before we finally disabled the codes. There are no leaks (now, lol), we replaced the 02s with Denso O2 sensors. I believe with the headers and a large cam you are moving so much more air through the system at low rpms that the computer doesn’t understand that, and throws theses codes. Other that that, the O2s seem to work fine in all other areas. And it doesn't go into open loop.
BTW the car did seem to like the Denso 02 sensors better than the stock ones.

How do you like the 230/232,573/575,111lsa Cam? Where did you get it? What else did you replace with the cam? How is the car as a daily driver?
I am thinking about a cam as my next big mod...

I don't have the problem with my cam either throwing those codes, it is my husbands "Godzilla" cam 245/249.

I love my cam! It has great power without a lot of the other problems some of the larger cams have. An A4 will need a good tune though. It is a custom grid cam from Combination Motorsports made by Comp Cam. http://www.cmotorsports.com/engine/l...ft-design.html they are a sponser of here.

I have the P1133 code and have a little TR220 cam. I don't think the issue is cam related, I think it is LT header related. I'm still fishing for the answer.

I have a Bosch 13111 O2 sensor I'm going to drop in this weekend to see if that solves anything.

I haven’t had it on a dyno, but I went .40 faster on the 1/8 mile track, which should mean about 40 HP with just the cam.

Yes it is the LT headers that is causing the P1133 and P1153 codes to set. But, I also think that the more aggressive cams make it worse. The Bosch 02 sensor might be enough to fix your problem. The Bosch 02 sensors read a lot better than the stock 02s, but not enough to stop the codes from setting in my husband' car.

Running the Vette rear 02s fixed the problem for me.
It hasn't set those codes for more than a year now.

I tried all the above also. I now have the codes turned off and have been like that for about 6 months. I experienced the same problems as gomer and this fixed it.

On the Bosch#13111 Vette rear O2's. On-line both were the same price (about $75) but AutoZone only has a 3 month warranty.
Advance has a year warranty. I received my 13111 two days after ordering on line. I put them in yesterday. The wires were real long which let me remove my extenders that I had to use when I put the LT's in. I also turned the 1133 and 1153 codes back on to see if they come back with the bosch O2's.

I will let everyone know if the codes return.

Bill

Look at the above posts. Using the rear vette sensors should work better when you have LT's.

I put the Bosch 13111 sensors in, cleared the P1133 code, drove the car all day w/ no problems. The code came back on the next day about 5 minutes after start up.

How can I turn the codes off? Will an HP tuner allow me to do it?
