Default Car is alive again!!

Thrashed for 4 days straight last week to get everything in and wired, and setup to race. Fired it up late Saturday night, and all I can say is WOW. The idle is crazy!! Everything checked out great after the initial start up, so on the chassis dyno it went. Tried tuning in open loop, but all we had time to do was get it idling and a little WOT tuning. Here's the setup:
409 ci
Callies crank
Lunati Pro Billet rods
Diamond custom nitrous pistons (13:1)
280/286 .720/.720 112 cam
LS2 intake
FAST 90mm TB
bunch of other stuff
Kooks 1 7/8 to 2" open headers

Took it to the track on Saturday to mess around a little. Raised the rev limiter to 8100 after the first pass, and it helped a lot. I still need to dial it in and tune it, but I'm damn happy so far. It idles right at 1500, and sounds mean as hell. More to come this week after some tuning.

It is a helluva cam, but it isn't hydraulic.... otherwise that would be insane. What did it put to the tire? Gotta be at least 550 I would think.

I think the LS2 is a nice piece, and a very affordable intake over the FAST. Overall, it's quite a bit taller than an LS6 manifold. You pretty much have to fab up a TB cable mount, and fuel rails, but that's no big deal. I'll try and snap a pic of mine tonight.

Well since my cowl is already cut out for the WAR and the throttle stuff is all fabbed I have no problem with room I would need new fuel rails to run an LSX intake anyhow.

Post up some pics if you get a chance.

Very nice.... Hey, BTW didn't Alan build this motor for you? If you wouldn't mind, I've been thinking of a very similar setup, do you think you could PM me and let me know what you spent on this setup? I want to build a 402-414 cid iron shortblock, solid valve train. I already have heads/all the bolt ons/intake, I'd just need the iron shortblock built, the solid valvetrain & heads machined and tuning.

Your car should run 9's on motor with the suspension dialed in I would think.

No, this motor was built by myself. Most everything minus lifters, pushrods, and pistons are off the shelf items. I'm looking to run 9's on motor with the 6 speed.

Nice job! Sorry, I thought I read somewhere some time back the motor was from Futral motorsports. Whose heads do you have?

Now that its running, bout time to take it apart again so you can miss another race season. You know you want a 98mm turbo sitting in front of that big ole hunk of iron now residing in your engine compartment.

Congrats though!! BTW, give me a buzz and let me know how the test and tune went at SDR.

Man its going to be a battle of the 408/409s at Thunder LOL!!

My setup is very cheap and simple...
Iron Block (of course)
Lunati 4.00 Crank
Lunati Pro-Mod Billet Rods
Wiseco Pistons (Gas Ported/Non-Coated) ~11.5-12:1 compression
262/266 @ .700" of lift @ 111lsa
LSx 90mm Intake
Kooks 1 7/8 -> 2" Longtubes
NX ProShark Fogger Kit (Pilled to kill.. literly lol!)

I guess I have the simplest setup... Cant wait to see everyone out there..

Car definately sounds wicked! And it ran pretty well for the first shakedown passes, minimal tuning, and "soft" launches!
