Default Comp 224 .563 or .581 on stock heads?

Is Comp's 224 .581 worth the extra stress on the valve train over the .563 on stock heads? I plan on going w/patriot duals and getting the cam on a 112 lsa. The car is a daily driver, has never seen the track yet, but may see it once or twice in the future. I drive the car over 125 miles a day so durability of the engine is paramount. Anything else to consider?? TIA

if durability is paramount,i would go with the smaller lift.i don't think you will lose that much with .020 less lift anyway.

Yeah, since you drive it that much, stick with the lower lift.

I asked about this the other day comparing the FM2 cam also a 224 but with the higher lift to the TR224. I was told the stock LS1 heads stall around .550 lift, so going with the higher lift doesn't improve hp enough to be beneficial on a stock headed car.

Well if you have ported stock heads the higher lift would be better right?

just get the .563 lift.. i have that 224 cam with .563 and 114 and its been doing great in my car. It has a few cam issues once and a while, but nothing you cant get use to(any cam car has them).

as far as power difference, i doubt you would see much difference if any hardly

I would Go with the higher lift cam. Generally comps higher lift cams are on a XER lobe which will give you a better idle. I have the low Lift 224/224 561 561 in my car now and i wish i would have gone higher lift and with an XER instead of an XE.

Go with the higher lift. I doubt you would have a way to measure it anyway.

I have the .563 112 version. I imagine there are a few HP with the higher lift version, even with stock heads. I ran my Comp 198 springs with it for 15K miles with no probs..... never would have attempted that with the .581 version. I made 386 HP and 369 TQ with the .563 cam/headers/LS6 intake/stock tuning.

I have the 224/.581 114 TSP cam. I really like it. I don't know if it would have made a difference to have the .563 lift or not. My car idles fine and runs good. Like one of the other people said. If you are going to drive it that much you might want to go with the lower lift. What about going with a 225 or a 228 duration and the .563 lift? That is what I wish I would have done. Either way good luck.
