What setup did you have? How did you feel the first time you got them up.

stock internal NA LS1 with extreme weight reduction, sticky tires and skinnies, 4400 stall.
Being up in the air is the best part of the 1/4. You have NO control when airborn. I am doing even more things to the car to be able to 60' even harder. :)
Oh ya, QA1 R series shocks up front help BIG time. No bouncy reflex going on. Set them to softest and launch as hard as possible.

what are your best 60s and what kind of tranny setup do you have?

1.45 best, consist 1.4's with my setup.
speed inc 4l60e with 4400 yank pro thruster.
Weight reduction is what does it for my car. Its a tin can.
I thought the R series settings were just for rebound (bounce?) Am I wrong in my thinking?

I agree with Magnus..The lauch in the best part of drag racing, feeling the G force from launching the car is the best!! And riding a wheelie for the first 60's just adds to the rush! :drive: :burn:
Now as awesome as it is to pull the wheels here are some things you want to follow:
You want to make sure the car is driving forward out of the hole as the wheels come up.
If the wheels come up dont freak out a let off he gas, you WILL slam the front end down. Ride it out, unless you fell the car pull towards the wall stay on it. If the car goes vertical and stand on the bumper (rare, like the Pain video) then you have no choice but to say bye bye to your oil pan etc.
You want the front end to settle down nice and smooth, not slam down, also no bouncing up and down 1/2 way down the track.
The big key is just because you pull a nice wheelie, you have to make sure your 60's are good and your car is still running its best ET. Some cars suspension setup will run a better ET with a little lift or none at all. If your losing ET then its pointless to pull the wheels unless you want to please the crowd.
My car is a stock style suspension Camaro SS with a 346ci LS1 with a solid roller cam. My best 60' is a 1.30 and I average 1.36-1.38 60's. I'm lucky enough to enjoy the wheelie and still be able to run my best times. I've spent many many hours tweaking my suspension, I am able to run 10.1x's NA with mid 1.3 60's if I do or don't pull the wheels. I say hang em high, its a total blast to feel that front end come up like that.

The pic in my sig was a 1.5 on the back tires
Car is pretty consistant, 1.35's to 1.40's.
I've got wheelie bars now, as the car tends to "power wheelie" about 40' feet out and if it ain't on the ground it goes up :D
I started lifting the front tires on my '94 anywhere from 4-8" once I got the QA1 12-ways up front. I dial them down to "2" for the track. They, and the Convo Pros with skinnies were the key pieces to pulling the tires on launch.

like was said earlier, pulling the tires isnt always best for et. for instance i pulled 1.48's and only pull maby 6-8" off the ground usually on original factory shocks. they some pull 2ft on 1.55 60's.
id like to do a big one just for the photo shot. :D but mine et's best staying low for now. btw, it feels great, its the best part of the entire run.

consistent 1.3 short times on the LT1.... put the wheelie bars on about a year ago (while gettin' air is a rush...it's not the safest thing to do.....not to mention it slows you down a bit).... since we added the wheelie bars, we dropped a consistent .05 off the e/t...
But I will add.....there is no bigger rush than starrin' at your ankles through the 60'
btw...setup...stock bottom end...HUGE cam.....a little squirt of juice ;) through a powerglide (w/brake) and a 4.11 rear (12 bolt full spool) to the 15x28x10.5w e/t drags
(w/brake)
There's your "wheelie making device" right there. :)

not tryin to steal a thread, just wonderin if its possible for my set up to pull a little wheelie...I got the mods in the sig, with tubular kmember, tubular a-arms, 8 way adjustable KYB AGX adjustable shocks and struts, with a 100 shot, on slicks and skinnies not figuring in the fact that the rear end would probably bust. The car doesnt run yet so Im not sure, and i would probably guess that it wont :( , but just wondering if anyone would think different.
