Default 408 solid roller vs 427 solid roller

What are the difference between the 408 solid roller and 427 solid roller ?

which one will gave me more power ?

Why we always see 408 solid roller not 427 solid roller ? there is any problem with the 427 solid roller ?

There's plenty of 427 solids out there. The 427 MAY out power the 408 by a fractional margin.

Most decent engines will produce 1.5 hp per ci in street trim with the normal heads cam headers combo.So your extra 19 ci would be about 28 hp at the flywheel.

I don't have any RWHP numbers on my "427". It made 740hp at the flywheel. It goes 9.40 @ 144-145 in the quartermile in a 3300 pound camaro with 3 speed automatic. It has C5R heads with 14+ comp ratio.

There are a lot of variables.

I know there are tons of sponsors on here that can get you close to 600rwhp with a 427 solid roller.

The main difference between the 427 and the 408 (usual setups) is that the 408 is the cheaper and heavier iron block while the 427 is a resleeved aluminum or C5R block. The alum setup will usually have a 4.125 bore as opposed to 4.03 in the 408 which is an advantage for the 427 in addition to being 80-100lbs lighter.
