I've always wondered about these..

How are these balanced, or is there a need

How much would one save in weight over the aluminum stocker?

go to ACPT's website! All the info you're looking for is there! As for the necessity, it's more a "safety" mod than anything (hell of a price tag too... lol) but you do gain some performance benefits, prolly not the $$$/performance ratio most are looking for, but like I said, some people just might want one...

Some facts:

Weight savings over aluminum DS: 2-3 lbs.
Rated for 1000 HP (who knows what that means..... )
Wont try to stab you if it breaks under stress! Will unwind and basically "broom" the underside of the car instead of piercing it...

I know a guy who visits the track regularly running low 12s (maybe 11s ) in a stalled A4, says he loves it, never had problems!

Would the yolk/ujoint fit the same in a 12 bolt as it would in a 10 bolt? I've heard of some guys having to chnage the yolks on their DSs.

depends on the yoke joint you get with the 12 bolt (either 1310 or 1350 normally right?) At worst, you can use an adapter U-Joint thingy.... search around here it explains more!

Thanks. What joint do the 12 bolts come with or can you get? Which would work with the off the shelf ACPT shaft? Thanks.

You can get either 1310 or 1350 (correct me if im wrong).

Most people get the 1350 yolk. Most auto parts stores have the adapters in stock

So I can get this DS now and just get an adaptor when the 12 bolt comes? If so, count me in.
