Stereo & Electronics - JL6w0 subs no power?
I blew one of my stock subs in my 99 TA this weekend so I went out and found a pair of the JL6w0's. I got them hooked up following Rogue Leaders post in the stock location but I am getting less bass than with the stock ones. Did I wire something wrong or do the JL's need to be amped? I have a Lightning Audio 300 watt 2 channel amp I got off my buddy, how would I wire that up to the subs?

The reason that they are not getting enough power from the stock amp, is because the stock subs were 2-ohm speakers, where your 6W0's are probably 4-ohm. The stock amp is putting half of the power that is was driving the stockers with into the JL's. I would find a decent amp capable of 100 watts RMS X 2 at 4-ohms, and run them with that.

Thanks. I figured that was the problem but I know very little about car audio.

ditto. But also check the polarity of the 2 subs. If you have 1 wired in phase and 1 wired out of phase your bass will sound flat, dull and lack alot of impact.

Oh yea. Polarity in phase is + to + - to -.................out of phase is - to +.
