It will add ~100 lbs. but most people think that the strength and potential out weights (no pun intended) the actual weight differance.

I would build a stroker on a ls2 aluminum 4.00 bore block that is the way to go now that the blocks are availaible.

Yes if you run the same set oup on eather block they will make the same amout of power. If the LS2 block is any think like the LS1 you can not go bigger than a 4.00 bore wher in the iron block you can.

I think thats the point, its NOT like the LS1 block. 4.00+ bore can be acheived.

If the quality of your machine work is good, the LS1 engine case can handle high horsepower. I'd go with the aluminum. There's alot of positives to using an aluminum case.

There's so many ways to build power on an engine that there's not enough bandwidth made that'll cover it.

go with an ls2 block for sure go to the ls2 section there is someone selling them for 995.00 shipped. The post is titled ls2 blocks in stock. You could still spray the **** out of it if you were going to use N2o. I have never heard of anyone cracking an aluminum block on the juice your heads would lift off before the block got damaged.
