Installing 3.73's
I purchased some used 3.73's with about 5k on them. I currently have a 01 M6 T/A with about 40k miles.
1. Will these just bolt right in, no need to buy anything else? (shims, etc)
2. What type of fluid should I put in the rearend with these gears?
3. I have no idea where any shops are around here that can correct my speedometer with LS1 Edit/HP Tuners or whatever...any other ways? I live in MA.
Thanks in advance,
Nate

i just put in 3.73's and the stock shims ended up being optimal backlash, but i bought a basic install kit beforehand just to make sure....just make sure you get the preload on the pinion set to the right inch-lbs, inspect your u-joints on the driveshaft and all the bearings in your diff, after all that you should be set
i used valvoline synthetic blend gear fluid and limited slip fluid as well
my speedo is exactly 10mph off...i dont even use it anyway

I am interested in swapping my own gears as well. Where did you get the basic install kit from? and what did you pay for your gears?
Thanks
Thanks

I bought my 3.73's off a forum member for $100. I would like to know where to get the basic install kit as well.
